Rory Rummings (No 44) made his debut under the ever-growing shagracing umbrella, in his well-prepared blue mini. Which has, and will be keeping dad Kevin busy in his spare time.
The day started well even the weather behaving (was this really the mendips?)
Both Rory (44) and Bradley (20) were to race in heat 1, so after a very brief practice, Rory was lining up towards the front of the grid with the other white tops. Brad now a blue top had to start from the middle, with the more successful drivers sporting red roofs bringing up the rear. Once the mad surge of the start was over brad was up amongst the first 5.
Rory started a little steady, but soon found some ones boot to tag onto. Unfortunately, after a few laps this car collided with another and Rory followed hard into its back, killing his distributor totally. Meanwhile brad had made his way up to 3rd and held it to the chequered flag.
Grand final (20cars)
With only 2 white tops making it through to the final, Brad would have to work hard in this one. At around the half way mark he was in 6th position, but all the cars a head were strung out and not much hope of catching them. Then the back marker made it difficult for the lead car to pass, and all 6 bunched up behind him like the six dots on a dice. “This could be any ones race.” The leader then made his move, quickly followed by the others jostling their way through. Brad was not able to improve his position so finished in 6th with the car still fit and ready for the next meeting on July 31st at 2.00pm.
