Darren wins Improvers Cup |

Another season of Somer Valley 10mile TT's has finished and another Rhymer has won the improvers cup.
With a 5 point lead going into the final week Darren knew what he had to do. He said "I've just got to stay 1min 30s ahead of Tony and not lose to Nick by more than 2min 18s. Its going to be tough, Nick has been going really well lately and Tonys performances go up and down so if hes having a good week im going to struggle. Even if I lose to these guys they still have to get 5 or more points to draw level".

With two weeks to go in the Somer Valley time trial calender Darren was attempting to get under 27 minutes. It was a wet dark night and he managed a very consistant 27:20 (his last 3 rides being 27:17, 27:20, 27:20).
Tony Penton, who was leading the improvers competition by one point only managed a 29:38 and picked up 1 point compared to Darrens 6.

On Tuesday 17th August Tony Penton improved by 51s on his seasons personal best to take the lead by a single point in the improvers competition.
Tony did a 28:25 and improved by 59.5s where Darren could only manage a 27:20 with an improvement of 44s. The points are now Tony 50, Darren 49.
Darren said "Last night was tough and Tony did a good time. I'm still in the fight and Im hoping to do a low 26 before the season ends".
With two weeks to go its anybodys title. |

With a cracking ride last week in the 10 mile time trial Darren has once again propelled himself to top of the Improvers Cup leader board.
The personal best ride of 27:17mins was an improvement of 1min 52s against the average of his last two rides. Tony Penton who lies 2nd in the standings improved on his average by 29s but still only lost 2 points to Darren on the week.

Shagracing's newest member Stu Viney has been up to his old tricks again. He has spent a small fortune on bike and kit and really does look the part. I think he's training behind closed doors so when he joins us on a ride he's going to put us to shame !
