Crash, Bang, Wallop

This page shows some of the damage members of Shag Racing have inflicted on themselves and bikes through motorbike riding.

Chris 'Crash Test Dummy' Neale

I'm starting to think he likes seeing himself on this page

Nealo dumped his 7 day old GSXR750K5 on the road from Foix to Andorra. He hit a patch of diesel (that old chestnut hey?) and the bike went from under him. Damage includes, frame, swingarm, fairings, engine casing, footpeg, gear change and a load of others.

Chris phoned Bennetts, his insurance agents and they couldn't tell him how to get the bike home as the insurance underwriters didn't work on saturdays!! Chris ended of stopping the oil leak with liquid metal and riding 700 miles back through France to Le Havre.

Chris was travelling towards the camera ouch the damage to the fairing, casing and cover Fancy a 700 mile ride without a footpeg or gear change? Wheres the cover gone? Here you can see the split the liquid metal sealed

Darren Rhymer

Darren overjumped the tabletop at Allington Lane on the 24th April 2005 and chipped a bit of bone off his right tebia and ankle. He stayed upright and even managed to avoid getting the Spoon jersey.

After Darren had been to the Canarias for a week the consultant told him that there was no bone damage. Good one Trowbridge Casualty, thanks!!

The X-Ray - unless you're a doctor you probably won't see the damage

Bradley Sykes

Smashed it up at Mendips Raceway on the 10 October 2004

Chris 'Crash Test Dummy' Neale (Again)

During the 1st round of the 2005 PPMXC championship season at Martinstown Chris managed to hit a 3 inch round post with his clutch hand. He managed to stay on but did have to attend Dorchester Hospital to get the flesh pushed back in! Stu drove as he knew the way!!

Chris' bad finger

Stu Viney

During the 2005 PPMXC 1st Warm Up meeting Stu got tangled up with Darren and they went down hard. Darren bent his bars but Stu broke 3 ribs and went to Dorchesher Hospital in an ambulance!!

Rodney Sutton

Rod did what any sensible man would do - bin the ZX7R

Pretty poor show actually Rod, the front wheel is still in the forks. Ring Martin to get tips on how to crash properly..

Chris 'Crash Test Dummy' Neale

On March 7th 2004 ShagRacing went for the first time to Tormartin. Before most had even got onto the track Nealo dived under the bike to save it from damage.

Chris in hospital Nice socks!! So thats where they put the chest drain. Chris getting sympathy from the boys

Dalton 'Dolly' Cullen

In September 2003 Shag Racing went to the Isle of Mann for a long weekend. On the 1st day of riding Dalton launched himself off his KTM on some gravel and managed to land on a rock.

Dalton's a tuff man so there wasnt much screaming but he did have quite a shock!

Martin Neale

Martin and Darren swapped bikes one Sunday in April 2003. Martin did about 5 corners on the GSXR750 SK1 before losing the front. It washed out on a left hander Martin had taken many times before. A brand new Vectra took the brunt of the impact along with the Suzuki's front wheel.
Darren returned to the scene of the crash to find Martin with his arms aloft, and his beloved Gixxer scattered across the road.
Lesson here - Only lend your bike to someone who has a) insurance or b) enough money to buy you a new bike.
Luckily Martin walked away from the accident with a slightly sprained wrist and a badly bruised bank account.
Darren bought an R1 on the Thursday.
