I went into tonights race with a plan of staying near the front through the race to see how things were up there.  I wasn't bothered about the result, I just wanted a good hard race. I found it easier towards the front even with the higher pace rather than the yo-yoing at the back.  The group was well behaved in the chicanes so we were usually 2-3 wide through them.

The field was massive tonight and this was the hardest race of the year so far.  It was 3/4 cat and they certainly drive the pace on.

I struggled the whole race.  No idea why, just felt under powered.  Even when I did move towards the front of the pack which was a huge effort, it wasn't long before I was just swamped by riders all around me and I found myself floating around at the back again.

Even during the sprint there was no room, riders were completely across the track which left nowhere to go.  I just had to sit in line and finish the race.

Not sure whether I need less training as Tuesday was a good session, or more training.

What a night.  After last Sundays 8th place I was really looking forward to tonight and a good result.  But it didn't turn out that way.

After the 11th place at Castle Combe I was excited to race again.  This was a 4th cat race at Ilton with about 60 riders racing for the points. I had a pair of 44cm Pro bars fitted during the week and was keen to try them out.  During the warm up they felt big.  They totally transformed the bike, it felt like the seat was higher, the bars further away.  I was really happy with them, during the warm up anyway !
